Converters

Measurement and correction of the unbalance of (torque) converters for use in large-scale production, interlinked with production lines and suitable infeed and outfeed conveyors.

Fully automatic unbalance correction with optional interlinking

Semi-automatic and fully automatic balancing solutions for demanding applications The balancing machine for turning and complete converters is a single-plane balancing machine with a vertical rotor axis that enables semi-automatic or fully automatic processes. It has a balancing unit, precision clamping fixtures, a weight cutting and moulding unit and a welding unit for unbalance correction. The unbalance is determined in the measuring system developed by Schenck and the correction values are calculated in the associated CAB 950 software. This enables very precise and efficient balancing, as all components in the measuring and correction process are perfectly harmonised.

Flexible loading and unloading of the balancing machine The balancing machine for rotary and complete converters enables manual or automatic loading and unloading, either via the integrated transport mechanism or an external feed. It is equipped with a freely programmable control system that allows easy operation and customisation. The integrated machine diagnostics system displays all relevant data clearly on the screen. Multi-station versions are also available on request to increase productivity.

Efficient unbalance correction solution for production lines The machine is designed for high-volume production and can be integrated into production lines. Unbalance correction is achieved by automatically welding weights onto the outer diameter. The weights are manufactured from sheet metal coils, moulded and transferred to the welding gun. This transports the weight to the workpiece and welds it tightly with several points on a defined radius, whereby the medium-frequency welding process ensures permanent connections.

UBLD series

Balancing machine for torque converters: UBLD is the production line-compatible balancing machine for torque converters with fully automatic correction The unbalance correction is carried out in accordance with DIN 1319, the cycle time is 60 - 80 seconds.

  • Maximum rotor weight: up to 30 kg
  • Maximum rotor diameter: up to 350 mm
  • Balancing speed: 600 - 1200 min ⁻¹
  • Measurement uncertainty: 20 gmm
  • Cycle time: 60 – 80 s
  • Air pressure: 6 bar

Worth knowing Facts and figures about the semi-automatic and fully automatic balancing machines in the UBLD series.

The semi-automatic or fully automatic balancing machine is manufactured as a single-station machine. It can be designed as a two-station machine on request. The basic machine includes the balancing unit and precision clamping fixtures with weight cutting and moulding unit as well as welding equipment for unbalance correction.

  • Maximum rotor weight 30 kg
  • Cycle time 60 to 80 seconds
  • Measurement uncertainty 20 gmm according to DIN 1319 with 95% probability
  • Balancing unit and precision clamping fixtures, weight cutting and moulding unit as well as welding device for unbalance correction
  • The weights are produced fully automatically from the sheet metal coil and transferred to the welding electrode.
  • The medium-frequency welding process is used.
  • The machine can be loaded and unloaded manually or automatically using integrated or external transport.

UBLD

  • Suitable for: Torque converters in the supplier industry and automotive manufacturers
  •  in high-volume production, interlinked with production lines and suitable infeed and outfeed conveyors.

Schenck modular balancing machines of the UBLD series are ideally suited for use in large-scale production.

  • unbalance correction by welding weights onto the outside diameter in one or more correction steps
  • Simple and reliable conversion to different rotor types
  • Can be flexibly adapted to customer requirements
  • Freely programmable machine control and machine diagnostics system with CAB 950 precision software
  • In the background of the machine, a correction weight is cut to length from a belt roller according to the measured unbalance, moulded and transferred to the welding gun via a weight feeder. This transports the correction weight to the workpiece and welds it with two or more points to a defined radius.

CAB measuring systems for series production Intelligent technology for precision, efficiency and flexibility.

Advanced measurement and equalisation technology

Advanced measurement and equalisation technology

The benchmark in terms of productivity, quality and flexibility is the CAB 950 measuring software, which not only includes extensive functions for determining measured values, compensation calculation and control, but also impresses with a reliable operating system and a graphically optimised user interface that is easy to read and intuitive to operate via an active touch screen - should operator intervention ever be required.

CAB 950 with expandable functions

Equipped with a modular software structure and powerful hardware with a wide range of interfaces, the CAB 950 offers significantly expanded storage and communication options as well as technological freedom for the future.

Diagnostics and statistics software for optimum process control

The CAB 950 has digital signal processing and software modules for various equalisation methods. A large data memory, user-friendly controls, photo-guided retooling and diagnostic and statistics software ensure precise, efficient processes. An external interface enables flexible integration.
