Typical ways of starting your career at Schenck

Design engineer / Electrical or mechanical engineering
As a design engineer your job involves checking work instructions for technical plausibility and completeness within the framework of order processing, drawing up system concepts, producing manufacturing documents and ensuring that all work performed conforms to current technical standards and legal requirements and that calculated manufacturing cost is not exceeded. In addition, you will be participating in product development and support our sales staff in the project-drafting process with your expertise.

Software design
As a software designer you will be playing a central role in product development. You willl make an important input into product design (features/cost/quality/standardisation/upgrades/development of new products or sub-assemblies/product maintenance), draw up performance/ functional specifications, and discuss points needing clarification with the sales staff, the customer or the project manager concerned. You will ensure that all work is performed in accordance with applicable technical standards and legal requirements, until the software is handed over to the test floor.

Testing floor and system commissioning
Your job is to test the functioning and quality of our machines in different test shops, to put the machines into operation at our customers' sites both within and outside Germany and handle their official acceptance. Upon completion of the commissioning and acceptance procedure, your tasks will include the training of maintenance and operating staff. As a test field engineer, you will be in charge of testing and provide input for new developments.

You will be in charge of drawing up technical solutions for our customers' problems and act as central point of contact for our customer, our field sales force and the different specialist departments. You will handle invitations to tender, draw up quotations and follow their progress up until order placement. Your job role will include conducting negotiations both in English and German. In addition, you will prepare market studies and competitive analyses and develop new strategies for market canvassing on the basis of the information gathered.

As controller your task will be to provide the Management with the necessary data for decision-making. In Operations Controlling you will be supporting the management of the company through a comprehensive planning and reporting system, through project-related analyses and by providing consultation to senior executives. In Participations Controlling you will be monitoring and directing the operations of our subsidiaries.
